Meet Our New HQ Staff
Rameen Abid
Rameen Abid joins JA Worldwide as a Junior Staff Accountant, reporting to Brittney. A recent graduate of LUMS, she holds a BSc in Accounting & Finance.
Rameen is excited to bring her finance background to a global organization that creates opportunities for young people around the world. She looks forward to learning from the team, taking on new challenges, and contributing to JA Worldwide’s work.

Zainab Sanaullah
Zainab Sanaullah joined JA Worldwide in August as Finance Automation & AI Analyst. Born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan, Zainab has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. With a background in AI, data analysis, and automation, she’s particularly interested in finding practical ways to use technology to make everyday processes more efficient and reduce repetitive manual work. Outside of work, Zainab enjoys art, reading, exploring new places, and generally learning about anything that catches her interest.

HQ Norms
Norms are shared expectations and rules that guide our behavior and anchor our ways of working. Think of them as agreements for how we work, individually and together.
Norm 1: We listen and communicate with genuine openness, clarity, and empathy. We make every effort to be timely and to leverage our established communication and knowledge-sharing tools.
Norm 2: We are each individually responsible—and collectively accountable—for our work. We collaborate, establish clear guidelines and expectations for our respective teams, and recognize the need for flexibility.
Norm 3: We respect one another as individuals and are open to each other’s unique styles and approaches. We support each other as we manage priorities around work-life balance and overall wellness.
Norm 4: We show up to work prepared to deliver on our responsibilities. We are always ready for change, and we make time to plan and prioritize. We bring the right people in at the right time, carefully balancing speed with quality and capacity.
Norm 5: We celebrate our individual and shared successes and are there for each other. We ask for and offer help when it’s needed. We seek to understand through private, productive conversations; we give and receive constructive feedback to help each other grow.
Norm 6: We live the JA values, and we steward the JA brand in our daily activities by taking a consistent approach to external messaging, executing on our strategic plan, and managing our internal operations. We apply “fixed-flexible-freestyle” to everything we do.
Norm 7: We learn continuously and build our skills, equipping ourselves to innovate in and adapt to a rapidly changing world. We are forward-thinking; we make space for new ideas and the discomfort that may come with it. We are a team of leaders who support and enable leadership in others.

Although you are being given some special HQ-specific elements through the page you’re on now, you may still benefit from bookmarking the brand landing page that was built for the rest of the JA network. (We probably don’t have to remind you, but please don’t share OneJA outside of JA staff.)

At the heart of the JA Brand are the JA Brand Guidelines. If you’re a designer, please study this carefully. If not, it’s still worth flipping through to understand the few “fixed” elements of the JA Brand Guidelines, which are summarized here. We have also developed alumni brand guidelines.

The color codes for the JA color palette are in the JA Worldwide Editorial Style Guide, but here’s a shortcut.

Load the brand fonts onto your device (however you usually do that, based on your computer type). This will ensure that the brand fonts render properly on your device. One element of the JA brand is to make headings QUITE BIG! This doesn’t mean you should crowd the page or slide . . . just the opposite: big fonts also require plenty of white space around them. So make ‘em big but also let ‘em breathe.

We’ve developed special letterhead and enveloped for HQ staff. In this folder, you’ll find:
• JA Worldwide letterhead for printing (both a version with cut lines and bleed marks for a professional printer, and a version for your at-home inkjet printer)
• JA Worldwide envelopes and notecards for printing
• Letterhead as a Word doc for your digital letters
• An Illustrator file for printed letterhead, notecards, and envelopes, to send to the printer, as needed. There are also a couple of folder designs in this file, too.

This “This Is JA” Powerpoint deck is BIG, but it contains a lot of content to get you started on whatever deck you need to create. As always, the deck is for you to customize as you see fit. Also as always, Lorrie and Tere are available to copyedit your decks before an audience sees them and do a final polish.

We have a variety of logo lockups, all saved as both high-resolution JPGs and digital-friendly PNGs:
• Our full-color lockups (one that’s more rectangular, and one that’s more square)
• A variety of monochrome lockups (also as rectangular or square) for use over a wide range of colored backgrounds (remember that the lockups that aren’t from the primary color palette must be used with a primary color background; for example, Ice isn’t a primary color, so it must be used over Boundless Blue, Immersive Blue-Black, etc.)
• White lockups (rectangular and square) that look best on very dark backgrounds

More than one hundred brand icons have been created for you. Please note that an element of our new branding is that icons remain small; if you’re looking for something large to fill a slide or other space, opt for a photo.

Through a new initiative, the JA Photo Library, we’ve purchased a few hundred stock photos for your use and have begun receiving photo submissions from the network, which will be added to the existing library. As much as possible, make photos BIG (for example, a half-slide or whole slide).
You can use any photos for this library for any use; however, our brand requires you to put “Photo by [name of photographer]” near, below, or on whatever photo you use (see the PowerPoint for examples). The photographer’s name is in each photo’s file name.

Take a Bite Out of Cybercrime: Phishing Emails and Scamming Calls
As technology advances, so do the tactics of cybercriminals. One of the most concerning trends is the use of AI to craft highly sophisticated phishing emails and scamming calls. These AI-driven attacks are not only more convincing but also more difficult to detect.
Why AI-enhanced phishing is a growing threat:
Personalization at scale: AI can analyze vast amounts of data to create personalized phishing emails that mimic the writing style and content of legitimate communications. This makes it easier for attackers to deceive even the most vigilant recipients.
Voice-cloning: AI-powered voice synthesis can replicate the voice of a trusted individual, making scamming calls sound authentic. This technology can be used to impersonate colleagues, executives, or even family members, increasing the likelihood of successful scams.
Automated attacks: AI can automate the process of sending phishing emails and making scamming calls, allowing cybercriminals to target thousands of individuals simultaneously. This increases the scale and efficiency of their attacks.
How to protect yourself:
Be skeptical. Always verify the authenticity of unexpected emails and calls, especially those requesting sensitive information or urgent actions. Use known contact methods to confirm the legitimacy of the communication.
Educate and train. Regularly participate in cybersecurity training to stay informed about the latest phishing tactics and how to recognize them. Awareness is your first line of defense.
Use multi-factor authentication (MFA). Enable MFA on all accounts to add an extra layer of security. Even if your credentials are compromised, MFA can prevent unauthorized access.
Never share sensitive information. Never give out credit card information, passwords, or other sensitive details over calls or emails unless you are absolutely sure it is safe. Always verify the identity of the requester through a trusted method.
Conduct regular security audits. Conduct frequent security audits to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities. Ensure that your email and phone systems are configured to detect and block suspicious activities.
By staying informed and vigilant, we can collectively defend against the evolving threats posed by AI-enhanced phishing and scamming. Remember, cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. Together, we can outsmart the scammers.
